The AI & Communications Lab is led by Sascha H. Funk and anchored at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Thammasat University, Bangkok. We work across disciplines — communication studies, organizational behavior, journalism, and AI ethics — to understand how intelligent systems transform the way we talk, write, and make meaning.
The lab brings together researchers, graduate students, and international collaborators to produce empirical and critical work that is both academically rigorous and publicly accessible.

Ways to work with the lab
Student Research Assistants
We regularly take on graduate and undergraduate research assistants — particularly students at Thammasat interested in AI, communication, or media studies. If you're looking to gain real research experience, get in touch.
Academic Collaboration
We collaborate with researchers at other institutions on peer-reviewed studies, grant proposals, and conference contributions. We're especially open to interdisciplinary work at the edges of communication, AI, and social science.
Visiting Researchers
We welcome visiting researchers who want to spend time working alongside the lab — whether for a semester or a shorter stay. Bangkok is a great base for fieldwork across Southeast Asia.
